Our Youth Football programme caters for players 13-19 years of age. Players are separated into their own age groups (i.e. 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 19th Grade) and compete in games every Saturday against other club teams in various locations around Canterbury.

The Youth Football age groups are within the Game Training Phase of skill development. The Game Training Phase focuses on taking the core skills developed during the Skill Acquisition Phase (Junior Football) and learning how to apply them within a team environment. This phase introduces 11v11 football to prepare the players for the senior game. Nomads players will be made aware of their specific tasks to help the team perform during each moment with the focus on the development of the individual. Our trainings will resemble the game as much as possible so that our players are able to execute what they have learnt during training when playing.

Team Selection Process:

You must be registered with Nomads in order to be placed into a team. If you register but do not trial you will still be placed into a team.

Players wishing to participate in Academy or Division One Grades must attend trials. Trial dates will be in February (trial information can be found HERE). You can find more information about our Academy programme HERE.

Players wishing to participate in Community Football (Division 2 or below) must be registered to be placed in a team but do not have to attend trials.

Girls-only teams: Girls-only teams are available in 14th & 16th grade. Older girls are now playing in our CWCL which is primarily aimed at U18s with both Div 1 and Div 2 teams available.

Training Days/Times:

Our volunteer coaches will run training sessions at times that best suit their schedules. Once players have been placed into teams the coaches will be in touch to communicate things such as training times, training venues, etc.

The club relies on volunteer parents/coaches to manage the majority of our teams. If you are able to help out please email admin@nomadsafc.org

NOTE:  New Zealand Football classifies every player in a year to be of that age:  eg. 2012 birth dates 01Jan-31Dec are all classified as 13th Grade.

Social Media: It's common Club practice to share photos of players attending our sessions on our social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. If you do NOT want your child to be included in these photos on our socials, please advise the club in writing by emailing: admin@nomadsafc.org.

Scorching Goal Fund

The Scorching Goal Football Fund has been established to assist children and youth attending primary or secondary school, aged between 5 years and 18 years who are from financially disadvantaged families or backgrounds, and where finance is a barrier to participation, either at club level, across development programmes or at representative level.

This is not a fund established to specifically support talented players but is rather about providing children and youth with the opportunity to continue to participate in football.
